Paver calculator
Work out the number of pieces for your patio or path. Australian units: metres, centimetres and litres. Results update as you type.
How to use this calculator
Measure the length and width of the area. Enter the size of the pavers and the joint gap you plan to leave.
Add extra for cuts. More cuts are needed around curves, corners and edges, so increase the percentage for complicated shapes.
How it's calculated
Pieces = area ÷ (piece length + joint) × (piece width + joint), then the extra for cuts is added and the result is rounded up.
Worked example
A 4 × 3 area is 12 m². Each 400 × 400 mm piece with a 3 mm joint covers 0.1624 m². 12 ÷ 0.1624, plus 5% for cuts = 78 pavers.
Common questions
How much extra should I order?
Around 5% for simple rectangles, and 10% or more for curves, diagonal patterns or lots of cuts.
Do I need sand as well?
Usually, yes. Most patios and paths need a bedding layer. Use the paving sand calculator to work out how much.
Can I return unused pieces?
Policies vary by store. Keep a few spare anyway for future repairs, as matching colours later can be hard.
